It is with great sadness that I wish to inform you all with the passing of Life Member and former Treasurer John Prowse on Wednesday.
John was first elected to the position of Treasurer of the NSWJCU in 1991/92, taking over from Tim Donahoo. He kept that position for the next 13 seasons. During this time, he oversaw the financial aspects of the Tour to England in 1993, worked with myself and Col when we started negations with Cricket NSW in 1995/96 and became the driver behind the Constitution updates in his role of Public Officer. His financial skills were also recognised by CNSW who invited John. on my suggestion, to be part of the Doug Walters Club advisory committee. John was also for a few years, a delegate to the Sydney Cricket Association. He was integral with the success of the our Centenary celebrations, ensuring that we celebrated this milestone in the great manner it deserved. He retired from eat committee after the 03/04 season, prepared to settle back to retired life with his wife Roxanne, with visits overseas and to the Central Coast. He was awarded Life Membership of the NSWDCA in 1998.
As well as being an integral member of the NSWDCA, John? was a long term member of Northern Districts CA. He was their Records Officer from 1972 - 74 and from 1997 -2003. He was also their Treasurer from 1981 - 2009. He was made a Life Member of the NDCA in 1992.
The family are having a private funeral.
